Each school in NSW offers something slightly different depending on the community. Here's what we offer for you.
Canteen
All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.
Ryde East School canteen promotes healthy eating. We have a good range of lunch items and our snack foods are generally low in salt, fats and sugar. Fresh items are used as much as possible.
The canteen is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Lunch order bags and price lists are available at the canteen.
Our canteen is operated by a canteen supervisor and parent volunteers. Two people per day are needed, so we are always looking for helpers. Rosters are organised at the beginning of each term and an “Early bird” and “Late bird” system for helpers who can only stay for 2 hours has been introduced. Working at the canteen is an excellent opportunity to be involved with the school and our children. All help is very much appreciated. If you have any questions or would like to help, please let the school office know and a member of the canteen committee will contact you.
How does my child order lunch from the canteen?
Parents are encouraged to order recess and lunch online using Flexischools. It is the fast and secure way to order and pay. To register go to Flexischools and click register. For more instructions download the flyer:

Children can also order their lunch by writing the order on a canteen bag and placing money inside the bag. Orders are to be placed in a canteen basket located in classrooms.
Baskets are collected by canteen monitors at lunch time and lunches are distributed by teachers.
Kindergarten children are discouraged from using the canteen during Term 1 while they become familiar with school routines.
